There’s fire on the mountain.

Run run run… A big big fire… run run run.

There was no fire, no mountain but somehow, Akpan was running . Something was chasing him but he didn’t know what it was. He tried to escape and he eventually jumped on the train going from christie to kittany.

He now felt safe but what was even chasing him?

He was now on the TTC which he thought represented two realities. Like him, the TTC kept moving even when it was falling apart. He looked around.

Why were the lights flickering as if they were possessed by evil spirits? The voice of the TTC operator was also fading. Perhaps, he unleashed his misfortune upon the subway because why would this be happening at a time he was running from something?

Suddenly, the subway stopped. Akpan thought he was safe but apparently not. He looked around. Even though everyone looked confused, no one looked scared like him.

He heard his heart pounding. He was starting to drown in his own sweat. The subway wasn’t crowded yet he was gasping for breath.

After what seemed like ages, the train began to move. They started moving underground.  The platform faded. He looked out the window and everything he saw was pitch black. Did life bring him here for a reason?  The train tracks somehow reminded him of his broken life. Life is hard but how can….

His thought was interrupted by the announcement.  The train had stopped again. He looked around. People around him now appeared to be afraid. Something had changed.

He was running but now, he can’t anymore. The train doors were sliding open. He knew what he was running from was close. As he was struggling to float in his sweat, the door opened completely. He had no time to brace up and now… he would finally have to face whatever had been chasing him.
